About the event
Acrylic paint pouring, also called "fluid" or "accidental" art, is the process of thinning paint to a pourable consistency with a fluid medium and spreading it onto the canvas with a variety of techniques, primarily -- you guessed it! -- pouring from a cup to create whimsical mixes of colour. First invented in the 1930s by Mexican artist David Alfaro Siqueiros, this incredible mode of painting allows for nearly infinite patterns and effects, and utilizes many different techniques to create swirls, "cells," and shapes that can tell any story you desire... and now, it's your turn to make your mark and create a completely unique 8x10 piece of abstract art to take home with you!
This two-hour course will be guided by local artist and Siding 14 Gallery owner Challen Gladman. Challen (they/them) is an artist living and working in Ponoka, Alberta, with a passion not only for visual art, but also for writing (both books and comics!), paper-making, pottery, and bookbinding (among so many other things they're still excited to try for the first time!). They have a keen interest in learning new things and in helping others to do the same -- making them the perfect mentor as you embark on your next artistic journey!
Paid pre-registration is required to attend this event. Please note that this course is limited to participants 15+ years of age. All supplies included -- just bring yourself and a desire to learn!
